Ludo — Tips
Get pieces into play
Having several pieces on the board gives you more choices on later rolls. A 6 is often most valuable when it brings another piece into play.
Attack or stay safe?
Capturing an opponent sends them a long way back, but check whether your piece will be easy to capture after the move.
Spread your pieces
Do not rely on a single runner. Pieces at different positions give you more useful moves and reduce the damage if one is captured.
Watch the opponents
Before moving, check which opposing pieces could reach you on their next roll. The furthest move forward is not always the safest.
Plan the finish
You need an exact count to move into the home column. Pieces at different distances from home make more die results useful.
Protect a lead
When several of your pieces are close to home, a safe move can be worth more than chasing every possible capture.
FAQ: What does a 6 do?
A 6 lets you bring a piece out of home and gives you another roll.
FAQ: Can the game end in a tie?
No. The first player to get all four pieces home wins.
FAQ: Do I need an exact roll to finish?
Yes. A piece can enter an available home space only by exact count.
