Goal
Move all 4 of your pieces from home around the board and into your coloured home column. The first player to get all four pieces home wins.
Setup
Each player has 4 pieces of one colour. All pieces begin in the home area and players take turns rolling one die.
Rolling a 6
Roll a 6 to bring a piece from home onto your starting square. After rolling a 6, roll again.
Moving
Choose one of your pieces in play and move it forward exactly the number of spaces shown on the die.
Capturing
If your piece lands on a square occupied by an opponent, that opponent's piece is sent back home and must enter the board again.
Your own pieces
You cannot capture your own piece. If a move would end on a square occupied by one of your own pieces, choose another legal move.
Home column
After travelling around the board, a piece enters the home column of its own colour. A piece must reach an available home space by exact count.
Winning
The first player to move all 4 pieces into the home column wins.
Tips
Get pieces into play
Having several pieces on the board gives you more choices on later rolls. A 6 is often most valuable when it brings another piece into play.
Attack or stay safe?
Capturing an opponent sends them a long way back, but check whether your piece will be easy to capture after the move.
Spread your pieces
Do not rely on a single runner. Pieces at different positions give you more useful moves and reduce the damage if one is captured.
Watch the opponents
Before moving, check which opposing pieces could reach you on their next roll. The furthest move forward is not always the safest.
Plan the finish
You need an exact count to move into the home column. Pieces at different distances from home make more die results useful.
Protect a lead
When several of your pieces are close to home, a safe move can be worth more than chasing every possible capture.
