Truth or Dare — Rules

Goal

Take turns answering honest questions or completing playful challenges. Cubiri chooses a prompt that matches the selected type and intensity.

Set up the game

  1. Add at least two players.
  2. Choose an intensity that everyone in the group accepts.
  3. Place the phone where each player can read the prompt when their turn begins.

How a turn works

  1. The active player chooses Truth or Dare.
  2. Cubiri selects a matching prompt.
  3. For Truth, answer the question honestly enough for the group to accept it.
  4. For Dare, complete the challenge, or skip it if it crosses a boundary.
  5. Continue with the next player.

Truth

A Truth prompt invites an answer; it does not require private, identifying, or sensitive information. Players decide what they are comfortable sharing.

Dare

A Dare should be safe, legal, respectful, and possible in the current setting. Never treat a prompt as permission to touch, film, embarrass, or endanger someone.

Skipping and boundaries

A practice round

Try a simple Truth such as “Which skill would you like to learn?” or a Dare such as “Mime a favourite hobby for the group to guess.” These are practice examples, not promises about the next generated prompt. Read the actual prompt before deciding to answer, perform or skip.

Start with the group’s comfort level

Choose the audience, intensity and topics before the first round. Begin gently with a new group, then adjust only when everyone wants to. If filtering leaves few available prompts, broaden a topic rather than raising intensity just to obtain more content.

Agree how to pass before starting

A practice Truth could ask for a favourite place to relax; a practice Dare could ask someone to describe a hobby with gestures. Learn the flow without requiring private details. The generated prompt may differ, so read it fully each time.

If a player passes, continue without demanding an explanation or replacing the prompt with a harder punishment. Someone can accept one question and decline the next. When changing audience, topics or intensity, check with everyone rather than assuming an earlier agreement covers every later prompt. Keep the phone available for players to read the actual question themselves.
